writerFor many people, French is a very romantic language. France, after all, is a very romantic place, with its beautiful sceneries. It is typical for American students to be taught French in school. However, this does not mean that English is left behind. In fact, a lot of people prefer English to French or any other languages.

English is a practical language. It is widely used all over the world. Hence, it is not surprising for a French writer to now prefer to write in English, especially since she lives in the United States. It just makes more sense to write in English when you are in an English-speaking country and you want to reach out to a wider demographic.

As a French woman, English is not my first language. I had to learn it in school and practice using it by communicating with people who speak English. I am fascinated by this language because it is easy to learn, ubiquitous, and simply wonderful. Writing in English has a smooth flow. It is not complicated. Even the alphabet is easy to write.

writing-in-englishEnglish is also the chosen language of people who wish to get ahead in life. After all, it is a universally accepted lingua franca. Wherever you go in the world, there is always someone who speaks English. In addition, it is the language used in finance and business. It is also predominantly used in music and film. English has certainly gained global popularity.

Another interesting fact about English is that it is impossible to tell if it has more or fewer words than other languages. Unlike other languages, it does not have a regulator. It does not have a central body. So, there is nobody to fix spelling patterns and do other modifications. Nobody is also there to prevent the language from evolving.

If you go to another country, you may be surprised to hear that their English is different. They may have a different spelling or pronunciation for certain things that essentially mean the same. The words ‘color’ and ‘color’, for example, are both correct. They are both in English and they are both used to refer to the same thing.

With all these being said, it is not surprising for a French female writer to fall in love with the English language. Just like her native French, it can also be romantic. It can also be used to write beautiful stories, letters, and poems. It can be used to captivate the audience or readers. English is just as beautiful as French, maybe even more.
